Marder III H

Marder (Marten) Self-Propelled Gun - Armed with the 75mm PaK40 Anti-Tank Gun, the Marder III H saw action on the Russian front in Panzerjager units and in North Afrika and Italy in 43 - Pack contains 1 Self-Propelled Gun and 2 crew.

The Marder III H was one of two 7.5cm PaK 40 armed Marders built on the Panzer 38(t) chassis (the other being the Marder III M). Its full designation was 7.5cm PaK40/3 auf PzKpfw 38(t) Ausf H. The Marder III H had a crew of four manning a fighting compartment mounted centrally on the forward half of the hull superstructure.

The Marder III Ausf H could carry 38 rounds of ammunition.

The PaK 40 could be traversed 30 degrees to the left and right. In addition the Marder III H was also armed with a 7.92mm MG 37(t) mounted in the front hull. Like most Marders its armoured protection was relatively thin, ranging from 8 to 50mm.

From November 1942 to April 1943, 243 Ausf H model Marders IIIs were made, with a further 175 vehicles converted in 1943. The Marder III H was first issued to Panzerjager Abteilungen (Tank Hunter Battalions) in late 1942. They also served with Waffen SS (Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler in Russia, 1942) and Luftwaffe (Herman Goring Division in Tunisia and Italy, 1943) units. In April 1944, 18 Marder III H were also exported to Slovakia.

In Flames Of War

The Marder III H can be found on the Russian and Italian fronts and can be selected as a Divisional Support choice in most German forces. It packs the punch of the excellent 7.5cm PaK 40 gun, Range 32inches/80cm, ROF 2, AT 12 and FP 3+ as well as the convenience of a Hull MG.

Like all Marders its armour is light (F1, S0, T0), but this leaves it unencumbered by weight allowing it to move as Fully-Tracked without any penalties (unlike the Marder I).
