Willys MB-T & Bantam T-3 Trailers

Willys and Bantam (and a few others) made nearly identical trailers to be towed by the Jeep in WWII. Officially named the ’Trailer, Amphibious, Cargo, ¼-ton, Single-Axle’. These jeep trailers were used to increase the payload hauling capacity of the jeep and carried food, ammo, fuel, people, medical supplies, clothing, bedding, and many other types of supplies.

It was common to see these trailers in the field overflowing with supplies & equipment. Willys-Overland produced nearly 60,000 of their Model MBT trailers while American Bantam produced a further 73,569 of their version, the Bantam T-3. There were only subtle differences between each company’s versions.

The trailers were also amphibious. The trailers could be floated across streams by themselves (without a jeep or other vehicle) either by having soldiers wading alongside them or by using ropes from both shores tied to the trailer. The trailers could be towed behind 2 amphibious vehicles - the Studebaker Weasel, and the amphibious jeep, the Ford GPA.

In Flames Of War

The Jeep and trailer can be found transporting Mortar and Chemical Mortar teams. This lightweight trailer does not hinder the Jeep’s speed and mobility. The trailer allows enough capacity to carry a Mortar team and all its equipment and ammunition.
