Steyr 270 (Steyr 274) - Steyr 1500A After the Bitzkrieg campaigns, a need was recognised for a larger personnel carrier. The new Steyr 1500 design allowed the Panzergrenadiers to mount a whole squad in one truck. Pack contains 2 trucks

From 1942 to 1944 the Steyr works were the third biggest truck manufacturer for the German war effort (after OPEL and Mercedes).

In 1940 Steyr were asked to build a passenger car (Steyr 220) and a 1.5 ton truck. In mid 1941 the first prototype appeared. It was all-wheel-drive with a Porsche Type 145 3.5 ltr-V8, air-cooled engine. Its top speed was 90 km/h and could achieve 100 km per 24 litres of petrol (on road).

It was also made as a Command Car and Van suitable for radio and medical duties. It was used as both a Kfz 70 Troop carrier and a light tow vehicle.

From September 1942 until March 1944 12,450 Steyr 1500A left the Steyr works gate.
